Turkish

Brown University is one of the few North American institutions to benefit from a Turkish program. The Turkish Program offers courses from elementary to advanced levels.

The Turkish language is spoken by over eighty million speakers in Turkey and more than six million speakers in Europe, the Caucuses and other regions of the world.

  • Esra Ozdemir

    Visiting Lecturer in Turkish

    Professor Ozdemir obtained her PhD in Foreign Language Teaching from Istanbul University in 2010 where she worked as a research assistant and assistant professor for more than 10 years. She was a Fulbright scholar at Boston University in 2008-2009, and was also a Turkish instructor at Boston University from 2014-2019. Dr. Ozdemir is the coordinator of the Turkish Program at Brown and teaches all levels of Turkish language courses and English seminar courses about Turkey. Her interest areas are linguistics, language acquisition and L2 teaching, content-based language instruction, culture teaching and Ottoman Turkish.
