CLS offers regular lectures, workshops and reading groups for faculty and graduate student professional development. By promoting research on language pedagogy and offering programming relating to the teaching and learning of languages, CLS helps to facilitate communication among language faculty at Brown and to encourage students to pursue the innovative language-learning opportunities Brown makes available.

As an institutional member of the Consortium for Language Teaching and Learning (CLTL), Brown's faculty meet regularly with other language faculty from the University of Chicago, Columbia University, Cornell University, Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Princeton University and Yale University.

Professional Development Funding

Faculty and graduate students are encouraged to participate in professional development opportunities related to the teaching and learning of languages. Funding is available through various resources.
